Wildlife in the City

It’s not all dumpster squirrels, subway rats and mangy pigeons. At our last apartment there was a family of raccoons that lived under some decaying decking in the parking lot. And at this apartment, we’ve got a woodpecker!

He has started to frequent the tree in the next door neighbor’s yard across the fence. It may be a Red Bellied Woodpecker since it has both “zebra” patterning on it’s back feathers, as well as a red head. But I’m not certain, since his entire head isn’t completely red. Whatever he is, it’s awesome that he’s chosen our neck of the city to hang out in.
